By implementing SAP S/4HANA Release 1909 SAP delivers new opportunities to handle the functionalities of the so called “universal allocation”.
These new apps enable end-users to edit and manage allocation cylces in an easy way. Compared to existing transactions and functionalities, each focusing on other objects and methods, universal allocation is much easier to handle. However, the logic of the universal allocation still applies cycle-segment techniques.
There are central apps offering functions to edit and run allocations much more user-friendly then in the past. In addition to this, it is possible to edit and run allocations with actual or plan data with the same Fiori-App.
The apps also allow simulation functions. This means that you can integrate actual data from ACDOCA-table and additional data from active extension ledger tables (e.g. for incoming orders). Different currencies can be considered, using the new Fiori-Apps for allocation.
The new technical functions use the so-called “Business Transaction Type (BTTYPE)”. This additional field enables to differentiate the types of postings. The Business Transaction Type is posted with each allocation document into SAP tables.
As a new feature, allocations need to be assigned to company codes and to ledgers. This is mandatory. This means that the organizational unit assignment will change from controlling area to company code level.
The new Fiori-Apps are called: manage allocations, run allocations. Here is a little bit more information about the apps, as follows:
1. Manage allocations
This app shows you in list view different allocation cyles of you SAP system. It is possible to filter the cycles by different criterion. From the list you can navigate directly to detailed segment information. Furthermore, it is possible to show a graphic presentation of the sender and receiver relationship and the cleared amounts. This graphic presentation is like the T-account view of FI documents that is available since a while. The following picture shows the results of an allocation cycle in the graphic presentation style:
2. Run allocations
This app provides a simplified “single”-point of entry for end-users into the system functions of different allocation cycles. You can run test or production runs of actual or plan data, using this app. The following printscreen shows the app with a list of allocation runs:
What comes next?
By implementing Release 1909 not all CO-objects can be considered with the new functionalities for allocation. This is the case for internal orders and WBS-elements. This might change in the near future. In addition to this, TOP-DOWN distribution functions will be integrated into the universal allocation features.
